What is the history to your taking up Dance – how did it come into being, your journey(in brief)

I sarted dancing with my friends in an N.G.O (Manzil) I used to learn Bollywood there for free as parents didn’t support me for any formal dance classes fee, then I went into Bollywood shows with a few dance troupe, doing regular shows, saved some money for further training as I always have this thing for contemporary and lyrical and jazz dance style, so I saved some money with teaching Bollywood here and there and with shows. I joined The Danceworx (Delhi) in 2012, started as a student and in 2013 January became a probationer. Then in 2013 December became a company member, in 2014 senior company member, started teaching there as an elementary level teacher in styles like Jazz, street jazz, Funk jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip-Hop. In 2015 January applied for a dance Scholarship in Melbourne, Australia at Jason Coleman’s Ministry of Dance and went there for 3 months to train on a scholarship.

The Dancer Moment !
After coming from Australia I did a lot of free lancing projects shoots, tv commercial choreographies, created different artistic works, Then started my Own company Shaadichoreography.com (a wedding dance choreography company). As the love of Bollywood is always there in our blood I asked self why not going into the Indian culture, so I created www.Shaadichoreography.com. Now I am working as freelancer (dancer/choreographer) and as a Manager in my company.
So who are your favorites/ Icons/ Role Models in the field of Dance?

There are many … Some of the names that come to my mind are Akram khan, Rami baer,Hofesh schter, Jiri kylin,Ohad nahrin, Brian friedman, Yanis marshall, Bobby new berry, Jojo gomez, Adrian ricks, Ashley Lobo..but there are others too.

Does your Dance carry a message / a theme or a story ..if so can you share more on it…

Yes it does, I usually like choreographing more lyrical stuff, which has a lot of meaning in each and every movement and depicting the particular word.

Of all the performances you’ve given, which is your favourite one and why ?

I recently performed on world dance day a 8 minute commercial dance piece. I performed it because it was so much fun and it was with my 2 friends who are like my brothers. I love dancing with both of them 🙂

How do rejuvenate your creative insights / get the adrenaline going?

By dancing everyday, training , working out by teaching, and doing meditation, I also travel a lot.

Do you have any interesting fan stories to tell?

Interesting ! Yes …many … 🙂

Of all the stages in your Dance Journey which has been your most memorable one (learning, practicing, performing, teaching etc) and why ?

When I went to Melbourne ,Australia I learnt a lot from there. This I cannot forget ever.

Can you share about some funny incident that happened on-stage / during performance /with you or the other artists / stage members ?

While performing I forget a lot. Once I forgot to enter and my partner was dancing alone and I was telling my friend who was right next to me, “Look.. this girl is dancing alone. What a dumbass partner she must have” and then I realized, “Oh shoot ! It was me” (hahahaha)

How has the Dance journey been so far for you and what are you looking forward to

Dance is what I do, Dance is what I want to, Dance is what I want to create and teach, it give me a lot of challenges in my life, and these challenges help me to grow more and more and gives me a direction in my life.

Do you have any words of advice for youngsters who are thinking of getting into this line ?
 Dancing for the Skies!
“PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE ! Train yourself through the teachers who have invested time in their dancing. Because they have the experience in dance styles what they are doing. Do not go to someone who has just been dancing for 1-2 years because you can do something bad to your body. Respect your body. Train under experienced teachers, find them, research and explore a lot. Don’t start teaching soon in your life. First become a student and learn as much as you can. Explore, understand the style, the movement before teaching. Have a good sense of music, listen to music a lot, explore a lot of different types of music and lastly just keep dancing. “YOU WILL FIND YOUR WAY,OR THE WAY WILL FIND YOU”
“Dance is what I do, Dance is what I want to do, Dance is what I want to create and teach, it gives me a lot of challenges in my life and these challenges help me to grow more and more..”
