“Utkarsh (Keyboard/vocal harmonies) and Yatindra (Guitar/Vocal) started jamming together in their college days just as a couple of musicians looking to diversify their musical horizons. Soon enough, after performing together for their music society, things were set in motion. In the following few weeks, they looked up for muscians with similar interest and attitude and in a few weeks, Shailendra (Drum/Percussions), Vatsal (Bass) and Shivit (Flute) came along and Chaar Hazaari came into existence.

To describe what Chaar Hazaari means, one has to remember their own college days. The situation being that the group was set and ready for their first performance and till the very last moment, it had no name. On being asked again and again, one of our members just said “Chaar Hazaari”. The reason behind it being that we had to rent the drum kit for the performance and it had cost us 4000 bucks from the society fund. It sounds funny but meant a lot to us back in those days and frankly, it still does. And that’s how, our group transformed into a band.
With time, we have also come up with a literal description for the name which means “We want our music to spread in all four directions and touch the hearts of thousands”.
”
“The very thought of us being able to play music and getting all the love one can expect from their fans is in itself gets the Adrenalin going. Nothing beats the feeling of going on stage for the wonderful audience that is there in front of us. But having said that, we do tend to go out for random trip to the hills and explore as much as we can. Nature is the best gift to mankind, an amazing source of inspiration and rejuvenation.”
“This is a question we amongst ourselves have never been able to find an answer. Each one is a favourite of one or the other member. We will let you know first if we find the answer to it.”
“We can recall an incident where due to unexpected reasons, there was a power outage right in the middle of the performance. So, to keep the mood going, we picked our acoustic instruments and just kept the show going with whatever we had. The audience was such a sport and kept us supporting during the several minutes of no electricity.”
“As a band we draw inspiration from Raghu Dixit project, Amit Trivedi, Kailasa and many more. Also, the members look up to their personal role models and giants in different genres like Blues, Jazz, Funk etc. which can be seen in their style of playing, understanding and creating music.”
“There are several ranging from the fans reaching us on facebook and requesting us to play at their preferred locations to a couple of fans bunking their college/office to attend our show.”
“Our songs have a different sound and not all of them sound the same with each other. As we keep on exploring different kind of music, the same gets reflected in our compositions.
One of songs called Barso is about the importance of rain for us and the amount of happiness it brings as it reaches us drop by drop.
Another of our songs called Resham is about a man describing the simple and small things he loves about his lady love and how he wishes to be able to be with her forever and ever.”

“Only that keep practicing, exploring different genres and be true to yourself, show respect and compassion to your fellow musicians and the audience, and always have a vision.”
